Panel proposals sought for MLA 2016

The International Virginia Woolf Society will have one guaranteed panel at the Modern Language Association convention in 2016.

The IVWS can submit one additional panel, which is usually accepted but not guaranteed. In addition, the group will collaborate with another allied organization still to be identified and submit a third panel.

IVWS members are invited to submit a panel topic for MLA 2016, which will be held in Austin, Texas.

Note that this is a call for panels, not individual paper proposals. Please submit one topic only. To do so, include the following in your submission:

  • A 35-word description (word count includes title), no longer!
  • The name(s) and contact information of the proposed organizer(s).

Submit your panel proposal to IVWS President-Elect Kristin Czarnecki at IVWSociety@gmail.com (note only one “S” in the address), subject line: Woolf MLA Austin 2016.

Deadline for submission: Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014.

Call for panel proposals for 2013 MLA

The International Virginia Woolf Society is issuing a call for proposals for the Virginia Woolf panel at the 2013 Modern Language Association Conference in Boston Jan. 3-6.

The proposal garnering the most votes from the IVWS will be part of the 2013 MLA conference program. The runner-up will be submitted by the IVWS to the MLA as a second panel, which MLA may or may not approve. IVWS voting on the proposals will be completed in November, so as to meet MLA deadlines. A call will then go out to the society for papers to be submitted for the panels.

A panel proposal should include:

  1.  A 35 word description (word count includes title)
  2. The name(s) and contact information of the proposed organizer(s).

Electronic submission is strongly preferred. Email submissions should have Woolf MLA 2013 in the subject line.

Deadline:  Monday, Oct.31, 2011, for the receipt of panel proposals.

MLA calls for Woolf panel topics at ’09 conference

Woolf scholars are invited to submit a panel topic for next year’s MLA conference, which will be held in Philadelphia Dec. 27-30.

According to the International Virginia Woolf Society Newsletter, this is a call for whole panels, not individual paper proposals. Voting on proposals will be completed by Dec. 30 to meet MLA guidelines.

Please submit only one panel topic, along with the following information:

  • A 35-word description (The word count must include the title.)
  • The name(s) and contact information of the proposed organizer(s) — e-mail, snail mail, preferred telephone number, institutional affiliation, if any.
  • Deadline by which the organizer(s) wish to receive submissions (usually March 15).
  • The format for submissions (500-word abstract? full-length paper?).

Submit to Bonnie Kime Scott, president of the IVWS, electronically or by snail mail by Nov. 20. Electronic submissions are strongly preferred.
