I already spend too much time on my laptop — way too much on some days. And now I’ve gone and opened a Tumblr blog.
I can only guess what this will do to my free time. Whatever that is.
What got into me? Good question. I took a look at the Tumblr blogs of Hearts Asunder, Megan Branch and Ann Fernald, clicked on the archive link of each, and I was hooked. It just looks so cool.
My new Tumblr blog, Woolfwriter, will give me a place to post small bits about Woolf, as well as miscellaneous stuff I come across that I want to share.
Besides what I post on Facebook and Twitter, I mean.
The volume also includes all of the keynote speeches, along with a transcript of the panel “Inspired by Woolf” that featured Katherine Lanpher, Dr. Ruth Gruber, Susan Sellers and Kris Lundberg. Megan Branch, who also writes for Blogging Woolf, crafted the introduction for the piece and prepared the transcript.
Contributors include Molly Hite, Mark Hussey, Tamar Katz, Eleanor McNees, Kathryn Simpson and Rishona Zimring.
In the interests of full disclosure, my essay, “Woolf in the Cyber City: Connecting in the Virtual Public Square,” is included in the volume.
If you are a follower of Blogging Woolf, you may know that since the blog debuted nearly two years ago, I have been its only author.
That is about to change. Three Woolfians — each with a unique perspective — are joining the blog as contributors. They include:
Dr. Vara S. Neverow, English professor at Southern Connecticut University, managing editor of the Virginia Woolf Miscellany and editor with Mark Hussey of several collections, including Virginia Woolf: Emerging Perspectives, Virginia Woolf: Themes and Variations and Virginia Woolf Miscellanies. Vara teaches courses about Woolf and feminist theory.
Megan Branch, sophomore English major at Fordham University and publicity intern for Woolf and the City and the Oxford University Press Blog, where she posted about this year’s Woolf conference. Megan, a New York City transplant who sometimes longs for the warm climate and open spaces of her native Florida, is a huge fan of Twitter and has a blog of her own.
I am looking forward to reading their contributions — and I hope you will follow along as Vara, Alice and Megan add their individual voices to Blogging Woolf.
