Charleston Saved: 1979-1989 is a new book by Anthea Arnold that documents the restoration process that the house known as “Bloomsbury in the country” underwent during that 10-year period.
The home of Vanessa and Clive Bell and her children and Duncan Grant is known for its famous inhabitants as well as the fact that nearly every surface is covered with paintings and decorations. It is located near Lewes, Sussex, and also provided a home for conscientious objectors from the Bloomsbury Group during World War I.
The Mantex website has a review of the book that points out some of the problems encountered during the restoration process at Charleston Farmhouse.
